A small quiet lovely mexican pueblo with a attractive jardin, where the numerous homemade ice cream flavors, in local carts, should be sampled. They offer an incredible variety , such as cerverza, mole, tequila, and of course, the more familiar flavors. Try a cone or a cup ! Go to the colorful open market on the west side of the jardin. Some tasty treats are here, gorditas, tortas, enchilladas, barbacoa, and a variety of soups.
At the North end of the jardin, The PARROQUIA de NUESTRA de LOS DOLORES, (Our Lady of Sorrows Parish Church), is where Father Hildago issued the "Grito" (Call to Revolution) In the jardin is a large bronze statue of Hildago. On weekends the plaza is crowded with visitors, locals and vendors... and musicians.

Only about 45 minutes from San Miguel and an adventure. To believe that once 50,000 lived here......now about 1,000 call this ghost town home!! Artists, Photographers, ex-pats and a few Mexicans live among the many abandoned and crumbling buildings. At one time a prosperous gold and silver mining town, it now caters to the few tourists who wander in. There are some artists studios, a couple bed and breakfasts, a few surprisingly good small restaurants, and of course many abandoned mine shafts. |
| | Founded about 1576 and abandoned in the 1920s POZOS is a worthwhile visit. The San Miguel Shuttle Service offers private car rental or guided tours to POZOS. For more information Click here
